ML/AI is the cool new kid in class, but are the promises aligned with reality? Unfortunately, marketing sometimes carries the industry away toward a fantasy, so we need a reality check on the vision of self-driving networks. Not every problem needs machine learning and artificial intelligence, and not all “AI” is actually that intelligent. There is much more to the data conversation, including robust data pipelines, data architectures, and other data modeling approaches. Nonetheless, networking complexity keeps growing while businesses build deeper network integrations, so ML/AI becomes a necessary tool to make networks more intelligent and autonomous. But, it’s hard to get to the real truth, and to tease apart the reality from pop-culture influences. In this session we will sift through the market noise and take an honest look at ML and AI for the vision of autonomous networking.
